Release of EOSIO 1.4.3 and EOSIO.CDT 1.4.0

Release of EOSIO 1.4.3 and EOSIO.CDT 1.4.0

Yesterday, Block.one officially announced the next update to the EOSIO 1.4.3 protocol version and the EOSIO.CDT 1.4.0 development toolkit. EOSIO 1.4.3 is stated to fix all previous bugs and offer significant network improvements.

The creators of EOS say that they have taken into account the wishes of the developer community and improved the EOSIO protocol and the EOSIO.CDT smart contract development tools.

As always in such cases, for EOSIO 1.4.3 it is announced that known errors have been eliminated, and overall stability and reliability have been improved. One of the most notable changes is the newly enabled history_plugin feature, which was previously removed in version 1.2.0 due to a bug.

Development tools have undergone more noticeable innovations. For example, functions have been added that allow the creation of a human-readable contract (Ricardian contract), potentially having legal force, which could also be perceived by digital systems.

A new architecture for executing embedded code has also been announced. Previously, such calls were designed as macros, but now a more familiar system for calling built-in functions has been implemented. This significantly simplifies the syntax and makes smart contract code more readable.

A new type of extension has been introduced - binary. This allows smart contract developers to expand the capabilities of existing smart contracts by adding new parameters with backwards compatibility. In versions earlier than EOSIO.CDT V1.4.0  it was necessary to completely rewrite the smart contract to the blockchain.

All updated code is available for download on GitHub for EOSIO 1.4.3 and EOSIO.CDT V1.4.0 respectively.
