After a long wait and careful testing, the latest version of the Litecoin Core network software has been released.
The developers note that the updates are version 0.16.2. include an updated database interface and node transition (v0.8 - v0.15) within half an hour. The small incremental version released provides performance improvements, block size changes for miners, and several new features. Despite extensive testing, the project team admits possible errors and recommends users to back up their wallet data file before updating to restore later. The new release can be downloaded or obtained from Litecoin.org.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to automatically update to version 0.15+ with software version 0.7 and higher; this requires a complete reboot of the blockchain.
Also, the new version is difficult to work with Windows XP. The released release works with Windows, macOS 10.8, and Linux Kernel operating systems. Version 0.16.2., is also compatible with Unix systems, but there may be bugs here due to insufficient testing.
For greater freedom of miners, who support the operation of the entire network, the “blockmaxsize” option was removed, leaving only “blockmaxweight”, giving miners the opportunity to set the block size themselves.
Litecoin Core currently remains the most popular full version of the Litecoin (LTC) digital currency client software. Core, due to its open source functionality, is available to volunteers and qualified personnel who are interested in development. Volunteers can join Core by contributing their improvements to the codebase.
In August, transactions with LTC became available in Telegram. Last week, the Litecoin team began preparations for the implementation of the LTC Lightning Network, which is scheduled to launch this year. The Global Litecoin Summit is scheduled for September 15 to discuss current issues of project development.
