Turkey's largest mobile operator Turkcell announced today that it will collaborate with fast-growing blockchain consortium Carrier Blockchain Study Group (CBSG).
According to a press release published by Turkcell, the founders of the consortium are: American mobile operator Sprint Corp, blockchain developer TBCASoft and Japanese mobile operator Softbank.
Blockchain, a technology that records and confirms transactions using cryptography, offers solutions for areas ranging from money transfers to marketing.
The consortium also includes leading telecommunications companies - Axiata Group Berhad (Malaysia), PLDT Inc. (Philippines), PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Indonesia), Viettel Group (Vietnam) and Zain Group (Kuwait).
“Thanks to blockchain technology, which allows the secure transfer of valuable assets through the mobile network, the digital economy will grow rapidly and new innovative digital services will emerge,” said Turkcell CEO Kaan Terzioglu.
Created in 2017, the CBSG consortium will provide its partners and clients with secure digital transfer, confirmation and Internet of Things services, as well as international money transfer services.
