Whiskey on the blockchain? Anything is possible

Fusion Whiskey, along with its partners Adelphi Distillery, have announced that they will begin releasing The Winter Queen, a cocktail made from Scotch and Dutch malt whiskeys and innovative blockchain technology.

The Winter Queen is not the first whiskey brand to use blockchain technology for production and sales. Fusion Whiskey already has a similar product - the company launched Australian Brisbane whiskey in March.

Alex Bruce, managing director of Adelphi Distillery, said blockchain will help the company provide unprecedentedly accurate information about the origin of alcohol. Buyers will be able to track every point in the production of the drink - from the harvest of barley to the bottling and distribution process.

The Winter Queen is the next product in a series of drinks dedicated to influential Scots who had a significant impact on the development of the whiskey-producing country. According to the manufacturer, The Winter Queen was created in honor of the Scottish princess Elizabeth Stuart.

One of the representatives of this series - The Glover - first released in 2015, is a mixture of Scottish and very rare whiskey from the famous Japanese distillery Hanyu. This whiskey is released in memory of Thomas Blake Glover, who played an important role in the modernization of Japan in the second half of the 19th century, and who helped develop Mitsubishi and the Kirin Group.
