A Japanese company has released an advanced Bitcoin mining rig

The Japanese company GMO announced the release of the b2 ASIC device, which is a SoC “GMO 72b”, designed for bitcoin mining, made using a seven-nanometer process technology.

The stated hashrate is 24 Th/s (that is, the device is capable of calculating about 24 trillion SHA256 hashes per second). For comparison, the market-dominant device from Bitamin, the AntMiner S9, has a hashrate of 13.5 Th/s.

As stated by Masatoshi Kumagai, director of GMO, the advantage of the 72b device is that it takes up less space than analogues from other companies and consumes 20% less energy. The company spent 10 billion yen to develop the device and its estimated price will be 1,999 US dollars, but will be adjusted every month depending on demand. ASIC deliveries are planned to begin in June. By comparison, Bitamin's Antminer S9 installation currently costs $837.

If the demand for the new device on the market turns out to be low, the company plans to use it itself for Bitcoin mining, so the company will not incur financial losses in any case.

The company also offers an API interface for monitoring the integrity of the system. Detection functions are also announced in the event of a hacking attempt.

According to Bloomberg, the device was designed in Japan and is manufactured in Taiwan.
