An altar to Bitcoin appeared in the Urals

Yekaterinburg can rightfully be considered a city of “bitcoin fans”. Last year, in one of the central parks, a huge ball was repainted to look like Bitcoin. Now crypto fans have erected an altar to the world’s most popular cryptocurrency on Proletarskaya Street in the very center of Yekaterinburg.

The first photos appeared on the social network “VKontakte” on the page of the public page “Typical Yekaterinburg” on February 28. They show that city residents bring shell casings, pebbles, shells and other trinkets to the altar, writes AiF-Ural.

Immediately after this, disputes between community members about the unnecessaryness of such a structure in the center of Yekaterinburg followed in the comments. Users are divided into two camps: the first considers cryptocurrencies to be a scam of the 21st century, and the second – a reliable means of making solid money.

This is not the first such building in honor of cryptocurrencies in the country. So, at the end of last year, a street artist built a “monument to pain for those who cannot afford to buy Bitcoin.” The sculpture, titled "Zen and Pain," features a sad figure sitting in a lotus position between an American dollar sign and a Bitcoin. It is located in St. Petersburg at the intersection of Nevsky Prospekt and the embankment of the Fontanka River.
