Apple announced it has reached a new environmental standard

As part of its commitment to combating climate change and creating a healthy environment, Apple announced that its official facilities have switched to 100% renewable energy.

According to Greenpeace, Apple has been leading the rating of “green” companies for three years now. The company's previous report on environmental success was two years ago, when 93 percent of all the company's plants were powered by clean electricity. Now Apple has announced that it has achieved 100 percent environmentally friendly manufacturing. The achievement covers all offices, retail stores, data centers, which are located in 43 countries, including the US, UK, China and India. The company is also proud that nine of its supplier partners have committed to using 100% clean energy to produce Apple components. Now the total number of such “green” partners has reached 23.

“We are ready to leave the world better than we found it. After years of hard work, we are proud to reach this important milestone,” said Tim Cook, Apple CEO.

Renewable Energy Projects

Apple and its partners are committed to improving the energy and environmental situation for cities, states and even entire countries. For example, the construction of the new Apple Park campus, which has solar panels along the entire length of its huge roof to ensure energy independence of the giant complex. The company has unveiled similar projects around the world, including in China, where it has built wind and solar power plants to counter the emissions generated by its manufacturing processes. The company's new regional projects include a variety of energy sources such as solar panels and wind farms, as well as new technologies such as biogas fuel cells, micro-hydrogen systems and energy storage technologies.

Apple currently has 25 active clean energy projects around the world, totaling 626 megawatts of capacity. The company has plans for 15 more environmental projects. Once implemented, more than 1.4 gigawatts of renewable energy will be distributed in eleven countries.
