Former US President Bill Clinton will speak at Ripple's Swell conference later this year, which will cover the use of blockchain in financial services, new market opportunities in remittances and digital asset regulation in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The 42nd President of the United States will deliver the keynote address and answer questions from participants at a panel discussion. The conference will be held in San Francisco from the first to the second of October.
“Clinton, as president, promoted technology during the development and adoption of the Internet. He also created programs that helped communities and individuals gain access to the InternetRipple said in a press release.
“Like the Internet boom of the 90s, we now find ourselves in an economic impasse: digital assets and blockchain technology offer a way to exchange assets as quickly as information, creating more financial and economic opportunity. However, this new technology also raises concerns because it needs to be regulated to protect consumers from risks without stifling innovation.”
The panel discussion will also feature former National Economic Council Director Gene Sperling, who served under Clinton and then Obama and currently serves on the board of directors of Ripple.
