Blockchain-based ID system from Microsoft

The giant Microsoft Corporation recently announced its desire to combine the identification system and blockchain

In a post published on February 12, Microsoft's identity team said they see potential for public blockchain systems to work with decentralized identities and will explore the technology's capabilities in their Microsoft Authenticator app. Corporation employees are confident that blockchain technology is ideal for storing, protecting and distributing users’ personal information in a tamper-proof and decentralized environment.

For now, Microsoft will “experiment” with decentralized identifiers, adding compatibility with them to its application, which is already used by several million people around the world. The post also states: “Instead of exposing their personal data to various service providers and applications, a person needs a secure, encrypted place where they can store the data they need and easily control access to it.”

Microsoft reportedly donated $1 million to the ID2020 project, which aims to strengthen the protection of personal data privacy, during the World Economic Forum in Davos last month.
