Blockchain conferences. Why are they needed?

Every person has places that he wants to visit. Kids are dreaming of a trip to Disneyland, movie buffs are looking forward to the annual Cannes Film Festival, and finance and blockchain experts are booking hotels near the Consensus conference.

On September 19, Singapore will host many guests of the conference, the purpose of which is the development of blockchain. The main task of most guests is to satisfy their own ambitions and search for potential partners. The conference is so massive and extensive that its visitors may not even have time to meet everyone they planned to meet. Therefore, usually each of these events develops into after-parties and so-called “side events”.

Why are side events so important?

First, they provide additional time for conversation. Taking into account the number of visitors (7000-8000), one person cannot carry out all the necessary meetings in the 10 hours that the official event takes place.

Secondly, the format of side events helps to avoid the hype and officialdom inherent in conferences. Afterparty organizers choose places where visitors can relax, drink, eat, listen to music, and avoid the annoying attention of the press. This atmosphere creates a conversation conducive to constructive dialogue.

More often than not, side events are much more beneficial than the main event. Recently, there is even an emerging trend of skipping the conference, but at the same time attending the after-party to resolve business issues.

This year, along with Consensus: Singapore, more than 20 additional related events will be held. Among the event organizers are such well-known companies in the blockchain industry as OKEX, DNA, BitForex, and others. All afterparties of these organizers take place in expensive clubs, hotels, rooftops, and bars. Also, one of the events will take place in a private house.

Byzantium.co and the co-founders of Cryptohou.se are hosting a party called Fireflies in a bungalow located in the most fashionable location in Singapore. This after-party is expected to be attended by all the brightest representatives of the blockchain and finance sphere.

Of course, the format of such events is “invitation only”.

In order to attend Fireflies, you need to fill out an application on their website. Guests currently confirmed for this party include Harte Singh Savni (Co-Founder and President of Hosho), Ran Ney-Ner (Founder and CEO of Onchain Capital) and Henrik Andersson (CIO of Apollo Capital).
