Microsoft Unveils New Blockchain Tools for Azure

On Monday, Microsoft announced the release of a new set of tools for application developers. “Today we are pleased to introduce to the public Azure Blockchain Workbench, a new solution that can reduce application development time from months to days. Companies can now spend less time developing infrastructure and more time refining use cases,” Azure general manager Matthew Kerner wrote in a blog post.

Azure Blockchain Workbench allows you to quickly launch blockchain projects, speed up development, and simplify experimentation using pre-built networks and infrastructure. Workbench  integrates and extends into the cloud and leverages existing applications to create innovative solutions using an open, trusted and globally accessible platform.

Using Azure Blockchain Workbench, you can configure and deploy a consortium network with a few clicks of the mouse. Ideal for development and testing, automated Workbench registry deployment, network creation, and pre-built blockchain commands.

Simply put, Microsoft is streamlining the way companies and their development teams can build blockchain applications on Azure.

Several of the company's partners have already taken advantage of Workbench, including bank Hapoalim, food distributor Nestle, and stock trading software maker Apttus.

Also In order to study various aspects of blockchain technology, the company is collaborating with other interested companies: Hyperledger, the United Nations, the R3 research consortium and a team of researchers from Cornell University.

In addition, Microsoft intends to use the distributed ledger for digital identity, as reported earlier.
