Mining farm of 40 old phones

According to Motherboard, the Korean company Samsung has built a mining rig made from 40 old Galaxy S5 devices that run on the new operating system.

The C-Lab company, which developed the mining farm, at a recent conference in San Francisco demonstrated old phones and tablets, devoid of Android software, converted for other tasks. C-Lab also stated that eight S5 phones can be assembled into a pretty decent mining device. According to them, such a device will mine more powerfully than a PC. A personal computer, however, is rarely used for cryptocurrency mining. C-Lab employees refused to answer questions about the mining farm.

Samsung representative Robin Schultz announced plans to release software for the projects that were demonstrated at a conference in San Francisco. Schultz also said that the company already had useful experience in developing applications for cryptocurrencies. In his opinion, Bitcoin has already proven itself to be a fairly inexpensive and convenient way to transfer money, but in the future the same technology could be used to store music, files and videos more efficiently.

Updating your phone requires manufacturer support. “The new software will help older devices last much longer,” said Kyle Vines, CEO of iFixit. iFixit helps Samsung repair and update older S3 phones.
This project has a description with a video on GitHub. On the website you can download a program to remove Android. Once Android is uninstalled, users will be able to download other software or upload their own projects online.
