Last week, Google announced that it would introduce a ban on cryptocurrency advertising starting in June of this year, which began discussions and debates in the crypto community. Some crypto enthusiasts went further and decided to fight this with their own methods.
Russian entrepreneur Vladimir Orekhov filed a lawsuit on March 15 in the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow against the Russian legal entity of Google, Google LLC, and accused the company of causing moral damage in the amount of 2 billion rubles. Orekhov explains that the amount is 2 billion. rubles was calculated based on lost income. The businessman also insists that the company lift the ban on advertising digital currencies, Vedomosti reports.
In the statement, the entrepreneur explains that he is a crypto-investor and the founder of a network of crypto-terminals. Orekhov points out that he “overnight lost access to potential investors,” since the ban on advertising ICOs and projects related to digital currencies will block access to data about companies that are going to ICO.
The businessman believes that this policy of Google “will affect income in the future,” moreover, Orekhov states that the introduction of a ban on advertising “infringes on his rights” and is absolutely illegal. The entrepreneur clarifies that we are talking about the right to receive information.
As for Orekhov’s startup, it is currently at the development stage. The businessman plans to create a network of crypto ATMs for exchanging fiat for digital currencies, a decentralized exchange, a mobile wallet and a payment system.
Vladimir Orekhov planned to hold a preliminary ICO in June of this year, after which the ICO itself would cost $2 million. In this regard, the entrepreneur is confident that the ban on advertising on Google could seriously harm his business.
Leading Russian lawyers unanimously believe that the court will not satisfy the businessman’s claim for obvious reasons: no one has the right to oblige a company distributing advertising to release this or that content; also, since advertising on Google will be banned only in June, the visible losses that Orekhov claims do not exist at the moment.
Apparently, Vladimir Orekhov also understands this and uses his lawsuit and its discussion in the media as an alternative advertisement for his project.
