Andreas Antonopoulos is known as the author of the best-selling books Mastering Bitcoin and The Internet of Money, as well as for his brilliant speeches at various conferences and events, in which he mercilessly exposes the hypocrisy of the corrupt financial system and talks about the advantages of Bitcoin.
Let us recall that the notorious Bitcoin prophet and cryptophilos Andreas Antonopoulos, expressed at the Baltic Honeybadger 2017 conference in Riga his vision of the future of the global banking system, especially emphasizing that they are making a huge mistake by trying to flirt with the creation of their own blockchain and rejecting the generally accepted Bitcoin.
“I would like to recall the recent war of world banks against Bitcoin technology. If you remember those statements by major bank directors who said that Bitcoin is a toy in the hands of crazy programmers who imagine that Bitcoin can become a full-fledged payment system. Also those frequent statements that all this excitement associated with Bitcoin technology is just a flash that will fade away very soon. But in reality it turned out that Bitcoin has become a full-fledged currency, which is trusted and used by the world's federal banks, and some banks also want to make Bitcoin a reserve currency. And what’s most offensive for people like me is that they are now trying to create their own centralized digital currencies that are absolutely not anonymous and especially undermine the idea of Bitcoin by the fact that many banks are creating digital currencies with unlimited emission!” Antonopoulos said.
A similar statement was made by him during a recent meeting with representatives of the Bitcoin community in Barcelona. In response to questions put to him, he emphasized that for large banks whose efforts are focused on investing and accumulating vast wealth, the very idea of Bitcoin is “incomprehensible.” And it is the cryptocurrency’s neutrality and its borderless nature that could ultimately become a “black swan” for financial corporations, which, as Antonopoulos says, will go through five stages of grief: denial, anger, attempts to negotiate, depression and, finally, acceptance. Today, Antonopoulos believes, banks are at the third stage, making attempts to reach an agreement. They choose certain aspects of the technology that they can praise and accept.
The Bitcoin community thanked the famous entrepreneur and cryptophilosopher Andreas Antonopoulos for his contribution to the popularization of cryptocurrency, raising more than $700 thousand in Bitcoin for him.. The fundraiser was launched shortly after entrepreneur and investor Roger Ver tweeted that Antonopoulos would do well to invest in Bitcoin.
“Andreas is one of the most eloquent speakers on the topic of Bitcoin, but if he had invested at least $300 in Bitcoin in 2012, he could be a millionaire today,” Ver wrote.
The first to call for help Antonopoulos was addressed by Eric Vorhees, founder of the instant digital asset exchange platform ShapeShift.
“If you have ever learned about, participated in, used, or in any way benefited from Bitcoin, please donate to Andreas M. Antonopoulos,” he asked.
The total donations eventually reached more than $700,000. Twitter user Joseph Young noted that this demonstrated the unity of the Bitcoin community.
“The Bitcoin community has raised over $700 thousand for @aantonop, who has worked tirelessly over the past three years to educate the masses about Bitcoin. This has proven that it is made up of compassionate, energetic and active people,” Young said.
Meanwhile, Antonopoulos himself, having received such a significant donation, wrote on Twitter, which goes offline for several days. “I need time to process everything that happened,” he said.
