Starting from March 5, 2018, the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) accepts bitcoin payments as payment for its services. The committee operates under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, and as an advertising organization receives funds through government funding and private contributions.
The goal of the committee is to increase the tourist flow to Germany, this applies to both private tourism (vacation/vacation) and business tourism (exhibitions, congresses, corporate trips). GNTB also promotes German railways, airlines and other major tourism organizations and associations offering domestic holidays. The committee has thirty-two offices around the world.
According to GNTB Chairman, Petra Hedorfer, the organization constantly monitors new trends and technologies, and also considers the possibilities of their application and intends to promote blockchain technology at the national and international levels.
