Much emphasis is placed on Facebook Messenger, which will change its design and become as convenient as possible to use. Messenger plans to abandon many integrations that distract from communication. A built-in translation function will also appear. Night mode, custom chats and dynamic effects in the dialog window have been announced. Created Discover Tab - a store of bots and various extensions for the messenger. The messenger will be open for business and advertising. WhatsApp will have group video chat and support for stickers from third-party developers.
Videos will be displayed on third-party sites, now videos from Facebook can be embedded on any third-party site, and the video player will support spherical videos in the news feed. The camera can be controlled using the cursor. At the same time, we should not forget that exactly a year ago the company acquired the development of Oculus Rift - a virtual reality helmet. The 3D Photos feature will launch in the summer.
Facebook and Instagram Stories will allow you to share information from other applications. At the same time, you will not need to link your Instagram or Facebook accounts with other applications. Also, group calling functions will appear on Instagram.
A new full-fledged social network Facebook Spaces, in which the user’s image is formed based on photos in the Facebook profile and is displayed as a drawn person. The virtual environment makes it possible to meet and communicate using the Messenger program. For now, access to Spaces is only available to Oculus Rift helmets, but soon it will be available on all VR devices.
Facebook is creating a competitor to Tinder - the social network is launching its own dating service. With FaceDate it will be possible to make your profile visible to those who are also looking for a life partner.
The Camera Effects platform, consisting of two components AR Studio and Frame Studio, will expand video processing capabilities using two applications, Frame Studio and AR Studio.
Facebook also introduced a new headset that does not require a smartphone to work. From the first day of the conference, sales of the budget VR helmet Oculus Go began. The new headset comes with 1,000 available apps and the Oculus TV service. The version with 32 GB of internal memory will be sold in 23 countries for $199.
