According to the developers, distributed registry technology will allow users to return to a specific point in the conversation if the chain of messages is unexpectedly interrupted. In addition, it will be possible to create chat groups with an individual set of rules, for example, clearing message history after a certain period.
“All information about chats and transactions will be stored not in the device, but in blockchain format. Through a distributed structure, all users in the group take part in managing the group, rather than a centralized server,” the Wickr developers noted in the patent application.
With all this, the company does not intend to introduce a new system into the messenger in the near future. The reasons for this decision are not stated.
Recall that the Wickr project was created in 2011 and has so far attracted about $73 million in venture capital.
