Screenshots from developer Alessandro Paluzzi confirm that the social network is preparing to integrate cryptocurrency payments.
If the leaked beta version of the new Twitter app for iOS is correct, then users will soon be able to add their crypto wallets for BTC and ETH to their Twitter account.
Crypto payments will be integrated into the Tip Jar service, which allows you to send tips to content authors. According to insiders, Twitter will use the Lightning Network in order to provide faster payments than on the first layer of Bitcoin.
Twitter has not yet officially confirmed this news, but head of development Kayvon Beykpour retweeted one of the insider's messages with the caption “Coming soon.”
Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey, a well-known crypto enthusiast who put almost 6,000 BTC on Square’s balance sheet, spoke about plans for integrating crypto payments back in July.
