The boom in crypto kittens has encouraged the Ethereum community to create new memetic characters. The Loom Network development team has created a new free interactive resource for programming games on the Ethereum blockchain called CryptoZombies.
CryptoZombies is written in Solidity, a programming language designed for blockchain.
Presumably, cryptozombies should teach developers the basics of the Solidity language based on the game CryptoKitties. It is claimed that the app does not require any prior knowledge for learning, and the lessons will be updated every week.
In the service blurb, the team says that “gaming is one of the areas where we think blockchain will really make a difference.”
Cryptopunks (CryptoZombies) are 24x24 pixel images that are automatically generated by the system. Most zombies appear to be both male and female, but there are a few very rare types that are mixed. Each zombie has its own profile page, which shows its properties and status: whether it can be purchased or whether it is already owned by someone.
Today, there are about 10,000 unique cryptozombies for the interface. At first they were included with every new wallet for free.
Now the price for one zombie varies from $80 to $250. Rare specimens are much more expensive. Their price reaches 160.91 ETH ($133,479.60)
It is unlikely that cryptozombies will be as popular as cute kittens, and it is unknown whether they will be able to interbreed and reproduce.
