zkSync announced the test launch of the Rollup protocol on the ETH network. This solution is expected to help the Ethereum blockchain scale better in the future.
The zkEVM testnet will allow developers to “build and deploy dApps in a low-cost, highly scalable layer-2 environment” using the Solidity programming language.
According to the official release, the zkEVM system will attempt to “avoid relying on human operators to verify and finalize the legitimacy of transactions, and instead rely on cryptography.” This will provide much faster transaction speeds as they will be automatically verified by the protocol.
Similarly, zkEVM will be compatible with 11 separate bridges, including PolyNetwork, Hop Exchange, Nomad, Celer, Orbiter, LayerZero, Connext, DAI Wormhole, Composable, ZigZag and deBridge.
The main goal of the protocols is to eliminate the high amount of gas fees on the Ethereum blockchain, not affecting network security and privacy. This will make zkEVM decentralized and allow for customization and updating of the ecosystem on the Ethereum network.
Developers have already expressed their enthusiasm on social networks.
However, there are also responses about problems with transaction processing speed.
