Microsoft announced the purchase of the service for GitHub developers

The world's largest free software platform has become part of Microsoft Corporation. Yesterday, representatives of Microsoft and GitHub officially announced the deal.

The GitHub web service and Microsoft Corporation have been negotiating a partnership for several years, and on June 1 it became known that this was not a partnership, but a sale of GitHub to Microsoft Corporation. The transaction amount is estimated at $7.5 billion. The transaction has not yet been approved by regulators. Its closure is planned for the end of the year.

This news could not leave the crypto community indifferent. GitHub hosting is used by many blockchain projects to collaborate on code or to analyze it thoroughly. More than 25 thousand blockchain projects have been created on the Github developer service. The online service is popular for decentralized startups, with the majority of projects created by companies and just 7 percent by individual users. And the impact of a giant, centralized company on the future of this service is not difficult to predict.

However, the head of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, hastened to make a statement about maintaining freedom, openness and innovation in the field of development. Microsoft has no plans to impose restrictions on GitHub developers.

On the contrary, the company has far-reaching plans for collaboration and development. Microsoft plans to expand developer capabilities from collaboration to cloud deployment. From now on, GitHub will remain an open platform that any developer can connect to and extend. In addition, Microsoft plans to integrate GitHub into its ecosystem, providing not only expanded technical capabilities, but also marketing and partner channels to access global cloud infrastructure and services to new audiences.

The company also plans to increase the capabilities of GitHub by synchronizing with its own Microsoft cloud platform Azure, which will enable developers to quickly launch their projects in the cloud.

Microsoft sees itself as managing GitHub, and has no plans to give up the independence and openness of the GitHub platform. More than 28 million developers already collaborate on GitHub, and there are more than 85 million code repositories used by people in almost every country. From the largest corporations to the smallest startups.
