Twitter CEO: Bitcoin will become a single global currency in the next 10 years

Jack Dorsey believes that Bitcoin will become the only global digital currency on the Internet within the next 10 years. The CEO of Twitter and Square said this in an interview with the British publication The Times

“Eventually the world will come to a single currency, the Internet will come to a single currency. I personally believe that it will be Bitcoin,” said Jack Dorsey.

Twitter CEO believes that in the future Bitcoin will surpass even the US dollar in influence. Although, at the same time, the businessman admitted that at the moment the cryptocurrency does not meet all the necessary requirements.

Nevertheless, Jack Dorsey believes that further work on improving Bitcoin and the use of the latest off-chain technologies will lead to the fact that this currency can become “faster and more accessible” and will be a single digital currency in “the next 10 years, or even earlier.”

“While it (Bitcoin) is slow and expensive, but as the number of users grows, all this will go away. There are new off-chain technologies that make blockchain more accessible,” the businessman added.

Most likely, Dorsey is referring to the Lightning Network, which allows transactions to be carried out faster and cheaper.

Nevertheless, despite such positive forecasts for Bitcoin from Jack Dorsey himself, it recently became known that Twitter intends to introduce an advertising ban of digital currencies starting in April of this year.
