A biopic about Nolan Bushnell, creator of the cult Atari video games, will be filmed with funds from the ICO. Leonardo DiCaprio's production company plans to raise up to $40 million to finance the project.
“Although we had offers from conventional and studio financing, we chose cryptocurrency to give video game fans the opportunity to participate in the creation of the film with us. In addition, such financing is most in keeping with the spirit of Atari,” said the film’s producer Jay. Di. Serafin.
Holders of Bushnell tokens will receive a percentage of rental profits, help choose the trailer for the film, and even choose the cast.
“We wanted Atari fans and gamers to join the project. In addition, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency financing will allow independent filmmakers and artists to not only create, but also own their projects.”
The Atari film is currently in pre-production with Leonardo DiCaprio's production company Appian Way, Vision Tree and Avery Productions. This is a film about the founder of Atari and his life's journey from a slot machine customizer to the creator of iconic video games.
