A reference rate and Ethereum index will appear on the CME Group and Crypto Services platforms

CME Group and Crypto Facilities Ltd will provide Ether to USD benchmark and performance index information on their cryptocurrency platforms, allowing users to monitor the price of Ether in real time.

The index and rate will be calculated by Crypto Facilities based on transactions and order books of two major cryptocurrency exchanges - Kraken and Bitstamp. The rate and index can now be checked on the CME Group and Crypto Facilities websites, and starting June 4, 2018, the relevant information will be available on the CME Group market data platform.

“Information is designed to meet market needs. Our main goal is to ensure transparency and reliability of the price source,” said Tim McCourt, managing director of CME Group.

Additional responsibilities for overseeing the new reference course will be taken on by a Bitcoin Oversight Committee consisting of specialists from CME Group, Crypto Facilities and leading industry experts. The committee will regularly review methodology, practices and standards of information delivery to ensure the integrity of the reference course.
