Blockchain card game from Steem

Competition in the world of blockchain is growing by leaps and bounds. This is a positive trend, although the longevity of some of these projects is in question for fairly obvious reasons. Steem Monstres are trying to do their part by creating a new collectible card game on the blockchain.

Similar to the way CryptoKitties works, Steem Monsters will use blockchain-based assets that can be traded, bought and sold. The difference is that this project runs on the Steem blockchain, and the cards themselves are part of a large card game. Essentially, Steem Monstres is like a combination of Spells of Genesis and CryptoKitties with a few changes.

How does it work?

The current plan of action is to allow users to directly purchase cards from Steem blockchain. Each card pack has a random selection of “summoners” and monsters that can be used in tournaments that will be held in the future, where players can compete for prize money and glory. Users will also be able to exchange cards with other players to improve the quality of their deck.

In order to make the game more interesting, the developers have added the ability for individual cards to gain experience, levels and learn new abilities. As you level up, the cards will become more powerful. The game will also feature the ability to combine cards of the same type to help them level up faster.

If all goes according to plan, the game will be released in July 2018. It sounds like a pretty addictive card game, although it's still unclear how the project will develop. The starter kit currently costs $5, a price that could generate a lot of interest in the project at launch.

What's next?

While all the major aspects of Steem Monsters sound appealing, the developers still have a lot of work to do. The combat system is currently under development, and many other features are yet to be implemented. At this stage, the amounts of prize funds for tournaments will also be established. It seems the development team wants to run a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the project further.
