Crypto trader hamster overtakes Warren Buffett in profitability

Mr. Gox, the world's first cryptocurrency-trading Twitch streamer, has outperformed Bitcoin, the Nasdaq, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway and the S&P 500.

This summer, the rodent's owner built a cage equipped with special sensors. The wheel and tunnels in the hamster's "office" are connected to a computer that executes trades based on his actions. While running on a wheel, the hamster “selects” a cryptocurrency for trading. Passing through the left tunnel, he sells the selected coin, and through the right one, he buys.

Hamster Gox began trading on June 12, 2021 with an amount of $390. Since then, his asset portfolio has grown to $580.

The hamster trader's three-month returns topped the S&P 500, which gained +6% over the period, beating famed investor Warren Buffett, who lost 2%. The hamster also outperformed NASDAQ (+12%) and Bitcoin (+23%).

At the time of his last stay in office, the rodent owns 11 cryptocurrencies, including DOGE, LINK and XLM. Currently, TRX is his largest holding at just over €85 ($100).

Among the most successful transactions of the hamster:

  • purchase of the Chiliz token (CHZ) at a price of $23.6 and sale at $36.44 (+54%);
  • purchase of a Pantos token (PAN) for $23.57 - sale for $35.33 (+50%);
  • purchase of Dogecoin (DOGE) at $23.79 and selling at $34.8 (+50%).
