According to a report from investment firm Grayscale, the metaverse market could generate annual revenues of $1 trillion.
The report was published this Thursday under the title “Metaverses, the virtual cloud economies of Web 3.0.” The document states that in 2025, the profit of virtual gaming worlds could reach $400 billion. This compares to $180 billion in 2020.
Projects like Decentraland help people interact with, manage, and earn their tokens. People are spending more and more time online and spending more money to build social status in the virtual world.
The report was prepared by Grayscale head of research David Grider and analyst Matt Maximo. They define metaverses as “interconnected, experiential and virtual 3D worlds in which people located anywhere on earth can communicate in real time and form a user-based Internet economy spanning the digital and physical worlds.”
