Independent developer creates software for Bitcoin transactions via Microsoft Excel

Pierre Rochard, an independent Bitcoin advisor to institutional investors, recently tweeted that he has developed a plugin for Microsoft that allows users to send Bitcoin directly from a spreadsheet program.

According to Rochard, who has experience as a senior accountant and software engineer, he created a program called Neutrino - which is a software solution built on top of LN. Rochard explained that Neutrino allows users to make payments on the Lightning Network “with just a couple of clicks” directly from Excel.

According to Cryptoglobe, Shitcoin.com CEO Andreas Brekken said that while working with the Lightning Network, he discovered many problems and glitches in the system “that even technically savvy users could not cope with.” He criticized the LN software for having a high transaction failure rate, and also said that the network's code base was riddled with bugs.

Even so, if LN technology evolves and matures in the future, it could potentially solve Bitcoin's scalability problem. And while Rochard is optimistic about his new plugin, he cautioned that the project is still a work in progress at the moment.

The Excel extension is “not for everyone,” he said. He explained that the program was designed for “advanced users” only and would only be used by experienced Excel users. According to the developer, the public release of the software should take place by the end of this month.
