STALKER developer GSC Game World will add the world's first "metahuman" NFT to its new game. The post-apocalyptic first-person shooter is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2022.
GSC will sell STALKER 2 digital NFTs and in-game items on the DMarket marketplace. One of the NFTs is not just an item, but the exclusive ownership of an NPC. The buyer will have the opportunity to place their digital copy into the STALKER 2 metaverse. This is similar to how game developers create NPCs based on real people in order to immortalize them in some way - Bethesda added Shirley Curry, aka Skyrim Grandma, to The Elder Scrolls VI.
You can register to receive items from the end of December, and the distribution will begin in January next year.
The second round is scheduled for February and the items for it are still kept secret. Details will be announced via Twitter and Discord. GSC Game World stated that the drops will not affect gameplay or provide an advantage to players.
Fans did not appreciate the innovation, call it a “money grab” and are in favor of blocking the game on Steam.
