YouGov Poll: 27% of US Residents Want Bitcoin as Legal Tender

The results of a survey by the analytical company YouGov showed that 27% of US residents support the legalization of Bitcoin as a means of payment.

11% of all respondents “strongly support” and 16% “somewhat support” this initiative.


Republicans are less supportive of legalizing Bitcoin than Democrats, and baby boomers (people born between 1946-1964) think it is a terrible idea.



Respondents aged 25 to 34 expressed the most support Bitcoin - 44% support legalizing BTC as a means of payment. 


The survey showed that wealth plays a role in attitudes towards cryptocurrencies. People who make more than $80,000 per year are twice as likely to support Bitcoin (21%) than people who make less than $40,000 (11%).
