A management company located near Moscow set up mining farms in the basements of high-rise buildings and mined crypto assets at the expense of Odintsovo residents.
The illegal crypto business was discovered after a change in the management company. When examining the premises in the basement of one house in the Trekhgorka microdistrict, they found an isolated room with three working ASIC miners. Canaan's AvalonMiner 1066 units, which consume up to 3,300 Wh, were connected directly to the home's electrical grid, spreading the electricity bill across all residents. Later, a similar mining rig, but already packed in boxes for transportation, was discovered in another house.
The residents filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies, an investigation into the fact is underway, and the equipment was confiscated. According to preliminary data, the mining business belongs to one of the employees of the former management company.
