Lukashenko urged Belarusians to mine cryptocurrency in their free time

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called on citizens to abandon labor migration and use cheap electricity to mine cryptocurrency at home.

At a meeting with employees of Belaruskali, the president advised workers not to go to work “in Poland for strawberries”, instead “to continue working in their native land”, and in their free time “to use cheap Belarusian electricity for mining cryptocurrencies.”

No one is waiting for our workers abroad. And if someone is waiting, maybe on the plantations, as Ukrainians often say, with the Poles there or with the Germans, hanging around, picking strawberries. Well, there is no big money, take greenhouses, create something with electricity. Well, in the end, start mining cryptocurrency, or whatever it’s called.

Recall that Belarus legalized digital assets back in 2017. The adopted law allows for cryptocurrency transactions and mining of digital assets, exempting this activity from taxes.
