Two miners were kidnapped for robbery in Lutsk

The press service of the Volyn region prosecutor's office reported the kidnapping of two people in order to take possession of property, which included a mining farm.

“The local prosecutor's office of Lutsk carries out procedural management of the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings regarding the kidnapping of two people in Lutsk, illegal deprivation of their freedom, extortion with the use of violence, robbery, theft and illegal seizure of a vehicle, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of city residents” - indicated on the official website of the Volyn region prosecutor's office.

The agency reports that the first victim was attacked in his own home. Six attackers brutally beat the man, after which they took away two mobile phones, stole a wallet with money from the car and took him to the village of Zaborol, where they threw him into the basement.

The second victim was kidnapped by the criminals near the entrance of one of the houses in the regional center. After that, they used his car and also took him to Zaborol. On the way, the victim was robbed of all his valuables and beaten.

After the man was thrown into the basement, they continued to beat him. Moreover, they threatened to kill him, putting a gun to his head. By intimidating the man, the attackers hoped to force him to hand over his property, savings in the amount of $5,000, and a farm for mining cryptocurrency.

On March 17, the hostages were released by law enforcement officers during a special operation. Four of the six attackers were detained and charged under a number of articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Lutsk is increasingly appearing in news reports related to digital currencies. Thus, in February of this year, equipment for illegal cryptocurrency mining was found on the territory of Lutsk National Technical University.
