14-year-old artist from the USA earned over $1 million from NFTs in 10 hours

A young American artist named Abigail created an NFT collection called “Belugies” to help an endangered species a little, but ended up making more than $1 million.

The schoolgirl has been interested in drawing for a long time, and tried her hand at digital art a year ago. Her older brother Adam is a crypto trader, and he explained the basics of NFT technology to his sister.

Abigail decided to draw an animal that would make a cute character. So she chose beluga whales she saw at the Georgia Aquarium.

The artist created most of the designs on an iPhone 8. Abigail drew different backgrounds, faces, hats and accessories. She used Node.js software to randomize the attributes so that each of the designs was unique.

The Belugies collection was listed on the Alpha Art NFT marketplace. The starting price per picture was 0.8 SOL. All NFTs were sold out in 10 hours, and the creators earned more than $1 million.

Abigail donated $50,000 each to the California-based Ocean Defenders Alliance and the Beluga Whale Alliance, which protects rare animals. Another $100,000 was donated to children with cancer.

A total of $200,000 was donated to charity.
