Being next to rapper Snoop Dogg in the Sandbox game world cost the new owner $450,000.
Two months ago, Snoop Dogg bought land in the metaverse of The Sandbox, where he intended to recreate his real-world mansion.
Earlier this month, The Sandbox hosted a “Snoopverse Land Sale.” Those interested could choose one of 122 ordinary and 67 elite plots near the future celebrity estate. The total value of the auctioned lots was estimated at 437,000 SAND tokens or $2.16 million. The premium land comes in a set with three exclusive NFTs.
One of the plots was purchased by the famous NFT collector “R-Are”. He paid 71,000 SAND or approximately $458,000 for the virtual land. Two more plots went for 67,142 SAND ($433,737) and 55,125 SAND ($356,107).
Sandbox co-founder and COO Sebastien Borget noted that about 16,000 players have already purchased virtual plots in the new sandbox Sandbox. The number of SAND holders also increased sharply from 500,000 to 900,000 in a month.
