While some members of the cryptocurrency community disagree that drug trafficking and money laundering are illegal, the hypocrisy of those who write these laws is astonishing.
Pablo Escobar, Jocain “El Chapo” Guzman, Rick Ross... Each of them is responsible for billions of dollars in drugs sold. However, their crimes are nothing compared to the crimes of their accusers. The same agencies that determine what can and cannot be done have violated every point of their own laws.
Many of the high-ranking officials who sent dealers to life in prison - such as Ross Ulbricht, who was jailed not for illegal drug trafficking, but for not sharing profits with the authorities - committed the same crimes.
A Brief History of US Lawlessness
It is believed that the US government, often operating unofficially through shadowy contractors, is the largest drug cartel in the world. The following is a list of crimes that were committed with the approval of US agencies.
1. Nicaragua, cocaine trade
According to several publications, the CIA was involved in smuggling cocaine out of the country in the 1980s. Drug proceeds were allegedly used to finance the civil war with the Contras. Some experts argue that these events became the cause of the cocaine epidemic in major US cities in the 80s.
2. Mexico, Cocaine and Marijuana
In 2013, it was reported that CIA operatives had allegedly kidnapped and killed a DEA (drug enforcement agency) agent because he was threatening their drug business in Mexico. CIA representatives, of course, deny this information.
3. Venezuela, cocaine imports
South America has a lot of drugs, and the CIA, apparently, has a deep grip on them. After a ton of cocaine was seized in Venezuela, the drug still ended up on American streets. And although DNA was opposed to this operation to “dismantle the Colombian cartel,” the CIA did not stop the supply of drugs, because the CIA does what it wants.
These are just a few cases that prove that the US government is closely connected with the drug trade. It is worth considering what role this government is now playing in imposing rights and freedoms on the world that everyone must follow.. When this government jails Ross Ulbricht for life for a victimless crime, when it forces decentralized companies to implement full KYC systems, when it equates cryptocurrencies with terrorism in every statement, it is worth considering that against the backdrop of the dirty dollar, Bitcoin is actually crystal clear and impeccable in its reputation.
