The Bloomberg Billionaires Index for the first time estimated the Binance CEO's wealth at $96 billion.
According to Bloomberg, Zhao is in eleventh place on the list of the richest people on the planet. His wealth is twice that of Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma, who has about $40 billion.
Eight of the world's 10 richest people are American tech billionaires. Zhao could soon be among them, as he is not far behind Google's Larry Page and Sergey Brin, each worth an estimated $120 billion.
Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg is in fifth place with an estimated net worth of $124 billion, and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is just above him at $135 billion. The first place belongs to Elon Musk, whose fortune, according to the Bloomberg index, is estimated at $263 billion. By comparison, the Winklevoss twins are worth about $5 billion each.
The report added that Zhao could be worth even more if his personal cryptocurrency holdings were included in the valuation.
CZ himself has not yet commented on Bloomberg's findings.
