It became somehow quiet on the network without weekly messages about Telegram and Pavel Durov. Accustomed to regular publications on social networks, users are perplexed by the long silence.
The last post on Durov’s Instagram was published on April 22, on VKontakte - on May 8. Both posts commented on the current situation with the blocking of Telegram in the Russian Federation. After this, throughout the summer, Pavel Durov remained silent and was not active on social networks.
The network began to be filled with rumors and guesses. So, on the Telegram News channel, alarming speculations appeared about the reasons for Durov’s silence for such a long time.
According to the author, it is unlikely that work on the ambitious TON project takes so much time. Most likely, there is simply nothing to brag about. At one time, the TON project from Telegram aimed to create a decentralized Internet, protected from the dictates of states and from any censorship.
TON positioned itself as the first self-healing network that creates a platform protected from blocking and censorship by state regulators. However, the stated planned deadlines for the implementation of the crypto platform have long been violated and the schedule is not being observed.
In mid-summer, Telegram published information about a new messenger tool - Telegram Passport, a unified authorization system for identity services. Pompously presented in July, the service was supposed to be launched in the first quarter of this year, according to the TON roadmap. And by this time, the beta version of the crypto platform should have already been launched and the security of TON should have been tested. The team is clearly behind schedule and there is currently no reliable information about the progress of work on the platform.
The period of active confrontation with Russian regulators ended almost half a year ago. Since blocking, the messenger has announced the launch of one significant update - the expansion of proxy functionality. Such a lull in the previously active activities of the team leads to different thoughts. And including the threat hanging over the TON project.
