Steve Wozniak abandoned Facebook and believes Ethereum could become the new Apple

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak attended the WeAreDevelopers technology conference this week in Vienna. At which he talked about the value of the Apple cloud and everything connected with it, talked about his days at Apple and his relationship with Steve Jobs, entertained the audience with anecdotes and signed autographs.

It is believed that Steve Jobs was the marketing face of Apple, and Steve, or Woz, as he is often called, was a genius who lived in the shadows. However, at this conference, Woz showed his marketing skills even better than Steve Jobs.

Apple is currently going through good times, given the recent scandals with Facebook and Google. Woz said that he finally abandoned Facebook, and not so much because of the disclosure of information, but because of the divergence of cultural interests. Woz also talked about his distrust of Gmail, but perhaps the most interesting aspect of the discussion was his attitude towards blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Being one of the lucky ones who "accidentally" ended up with Bitcoin and Ether in his wallet, Woz sold them at the right time a few months ago, keeping a few coins for himself "to experiment with paying for different things."

However, in the long term, he is extremely bullish on Ethereum and called it the platform that could become as influential as Apple.

“Ethereum interests me because you can do different things with it and because it’s a great platform,” says Woz.

Time will tell what happens, but it was clear that Woz is still part of the tech world. To prove this, he created Woz U, a company in Arizona, and now there are more than thirty such training and coding centers that are open to everyone and that also offer grants to students.

After the performance, Steve received a standing ovation and was asked to leave his autograph on the participants’ MacBooks.
