A Brazilian congressman has proposed a bill that would legalize the payment of wages in cryptocurrency.
Federal deputy and vice-minister Luisao Goulart presented to Congress a bill that would legalize the payment of wages in cryptocurrency, in particular BTC.
Bitcoin is not yet recognized as legal tender in Brazil. However, earlier other congressmen proposed legalizing Bitcoin payments in Brazil. This first bill has already been approved by a special commission and is ready for consideration by deputies in plenary session.
The new bill will allow Brazilian workers to choose the currency for payment at their discretion, but crypto payments will only be made after an agreement between the employee and the employer. At the same time, no one will be forced to pay salaries in certain currencies.
The Congressman believes that the use of cryptocurrency payments, among other things, will allow the country to solve the problem of “excess cash.”
