British regulator is investigating Sorare's activities

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has warned that fantasy football blockchain platform Sorare does not have a UK gambling license.

Sorare allows players to buy, sell and trade 'virtual football cards' to manage fantasy teams. Purchases and card exchanges are recorded on the Ethereum blockchain as a non-fungible token (NFT).

The UKGC said it is currently assessing whether Sorare.com is a gambling business for legal purposes and whether its platform requires an operating licence.
