CFTC and SEC will join forces to regulate cryptocurrencies

Members of the House of Representatives appealed to the heads of regulatory agencies with a demand to join forces to resolve pressing issues regarding cryptocurrencies.

US legislators are trying to put pressure on regulators and speed up the creation of a joint working group with the participation of the CFTC and the SEC.

Congressmen Patrick McHenry and Glenn Thompson sent letters to departments calling on them to speed up the creation of a group on cryptocurrency issues.

McHenry had previously expressed concerns that Gary Gensler's intentions to gain greater control over the crypto-ecosystem threaten to harm American innovation.

Representatives of the Chamber are confident that instead of total control and limitation of innovation, authorities must establish an active dialogue between regulatory agencies and market participants. They call on departments to begin the work of the group immediately, without waiting for a special decree, and to explore the possibilities of sharing their powers.
