SEC launched an investigation against Circle

Circle said it is “cooperating fully with the investigation,” but did not provide any details.

The company said this Monday that it received a “subpoena of investigation” from the Securities and Exchange Commission in July 2021. In this subpoena, the SEC requested access to the company's internal documents.

Circle received the subpoena exactly one month after the launch of a new corporate product that allowed them to receive annual profits in USDC. This year, the SEC has already closed a similar product from the Coinbase exchange.
