Theft and fraud involving digital assets is nothing new in the world of cryptocurrencies. Hackers almost never miss an opportunity to make easy money. The number of thefts that have occurred only means that hackers are doing serious business and, regardless of where you are, as long as you have cryptocurrency, you should store it more securely.
According to the latest research, scammers are more interested in the assets of American cryptocurrency owners than any other group of investors around the world.
This is not surprising, since the American market has been subject to multiple hacks and hacker attacks on major cryptocurrency platforms.
At the moment, Asia is the largest market for digital assets. Given the size of the market, it should be assumed that Asia should be the most lucrative place for cybercriminals. According to representatives of Group IB, a Russian company specializing in the prevention and investigation of crimes using high technology, the US cryptocurrency market was supposed to be a target after a series of hacks of Asian exchanges.
In January of this year, hackers gained access to 212 American investor accounts, which is 689% more than the monthly average for last year. The research does not explain why Americans have become the favorites of hackers, but several times it was emphasized that many American cryptocurrency platforms did not use two-factor authentication (2FA) technology. Customer accounts were generally protected only with regular passwords.
Many expected greater reliability and security from the US cryptocurrency market, but this did not happen.
Russia and, surprisingly, China rank second and third in thefts, respectively. The Chinese government has spent a lot of time discouraging investors from investing in cryptocurrencies and ICOs, but to no avail.
Regardless of what happens, the cryptocurrency market is not going anywhere anytime soon, so hackers will always be around and will remain a threat until the necessary security measures and precautions are taken.

Mining in a browser is unprofitable
There are as many cryptocurrencies as there are methods for mining them. Bitcoin, for example, is most profitable to mine using ASIC adapters; Litecoin and Ethereum can be mined through a video card. In some situations, the CPU is most efficient. It is the third group that includes Monero, which often becomes the target of attackers.
