The victim named Tai arranged a meeting with unknown people who allegedly wanted to purchase bitcoin from him. The attackers insisted on carrying out the transaction only in person.
On the spot, Ty found three men. Despite the fact that he brought a friend with him, this did not save the man. As soon as Ty showed that he had 18 bitcoins in his wallet, the attackers began to beat the owner of the cryptocurrency, as well as his friend.
After the beating, the criminals forced Ty to transfer the digital currency to the specified account.
In addition, according to the victims, the attackers tried to make the robbery look like a drunken brawl. To do this, the men were forced to drink a large amount of local alcoholic drink, hoping that while drunk, they would not call the law enforcement agencies.
Passers-by saw the scuffle and called the police. The first of the attackers was arrested almost immediately, two more were arrested on Kinman Island. There they tried to hide from justice.
After this, the fourth attacker was detained - he is suspected of organizing the crime.
However, it is still unknown whether the money returned to its owner or not.
