Coinbase is adding GBP trading pairs to its platform so UK users can trade using their local currency.
Representatives of the Coinbase exchange reported in a blog that, starting from September 7, British users of the Pro trading platform will be able to purchase Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) cryptocurrencies for pounds. The exchange already offers a BTC/GBP trading pair, and new types of cryptocurrencies will provide customers with even more options.
The implementation will be carried out in three stages to ensure a smooth and orderly adoption in the market. If at any time one of the new order books does not meet the exchange's vision of a healthy and orderly market, it will hold that book in the first stage for a period of time or suspend trading in accordance with internal trading rules.
In preparation for the launch, users will be able to spend pounds from their Coinbase accounts as early as the end of the week. Earlier this year, Coinbase announced that it would be adding support for Faster Payments to its marketplace, which will be another bonus for investors.
Indeed, the Faster Payments service is only available to UK citizens. This is a banking initiative to reduce the time of payments between customer accounts of different banks from three business days, which takes the processing of transactions through the British payment system BACS, to several seconds through the Faster Payments payment system.
