Investment platform eToro made record profits from commissions for buying and selling cryptocurrencies.
According to eToro's financial report for the second quarter of 2021, 73% of all commissions came from trading cryptocurrencies. During the same period last year, cryptocurrencies accounted for only 7% of fees.
In total, eToro earned $362 million in fees in the second quarter. Cryptocurrencies accounted for $264 million - 23 times more than $11.27 million last year.
