The department proposes to create a special cryptocurrency exchange where miners could exchange digital currency for fiat currency, Interfax writes, citing Anton Kozyrev, Deputy Minister of Communications of the Russian Federation.
Such a solution will help make mining transparent and understandable for the state and contribute to the taxation of those who mine cryptocurrency.
“The corresponding clause is in the Draft Law “On Digital Financial Assets,” which the department plans to submit to the State Duma in the near future,” Kozyrev noted at the Crypto Environment forum.
The official also announced that a number of consultation conversations were held at the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications with crypto community, as a result of which officials were able to develop a strategy for regulating cryptocurrency mining.
Kozyrev noted that special requirements will be introduced for industrial mining. The official did not specify what exactly would be different.
According to Kozyrev, it became known that the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications is also considering the possibility of creating a state blockchain platform.
Kozyrev believes that creating a platform at the state level is much more reliable. “According to TokenData, more than 50% of all blockchain platforms created in 2017 have already become bankrupt and disappeared,” the official adds.
Whether the project will be successful and with what enthusiasm it will be received in the State Duma is still unknown. We follow the news.
