According to Cointelegraph, Opera is launching a special version of its web browser for desktops called “Labs,” which has built-in cryptocurrency wallet functionality.
Opera employees first announced the creation of a crypto wallet built into the browser at the beginning of August, now “Labs” is available for private beta testers of Opera for Android. According to the company, the new version of the wallet will help users confirm Web 3.0 and Dapp transactions made on a computer using an Android mobile phone. “Labs” is fully compatible with the mobile wallet that Opera released in July of this year.
Like the mobile version, the desktop version supports collectibles - digital tokens like CryptoKitties or baseball cards. Users can transfer these tokens directly to each other using Opera cryptocurrency wallets.
In July, HTC announced that by the end of 2018 it will release the HTC Exodus smartphone, which will have both CryptoKitties and a cryptocurrency wallet built into it.
As previously reported, the Opera wallet allows you to connect the mobile version of the crypto walletto the computer version by scanning a QR code. Opera has been using a similar system to synchronize mobile and computer applications for several years, for example, for the WatsApp web client.
In January of this year, Opera developers added software that enhances protection against attacks by gray miners. In August, Firefox employees announced that they would also block all crypto-mining malware in future versions of their web browser.
