According to Fortune's sources, the addition of financial data on alternative cryptocurrencies is aimed at forex traders who may be interested in exploring new currencies. The addition of Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple also demonstrates that Bloomberg has an interest not only in Bitcoin, but in all cryptocurrencies in general - in their form and structure, altcoins are very different from Bitcoin, which until recently was the only thing the app focused on.
The move is being attributed by some to the sharp rise in prices of many alternative cryptocurrencies, or altcoins, as well as rising prices for Bitcoin.
